The Miele bikes were made in Toronto in the 1980's by Jim Miele, an Italian immigrant. He was a former road racer and "stole" one of Bianchi's top designers from the Italian factory, convincing him to come to Canada to start their bike company with him.The story of the Miele Lupa which I know little of is that the bike was named after his affectionate German Shepherd Lupa.
The Miele brand demands a premium price in Canada but is far less known in the states. That doesn’t take from its quality. These bikes were produced for a very short period until the Chinese bike boom in the late 80’s which saw a lot of cycling companies go down.
This Miele is a true survivor and in almost original condition. The original saddle has been long gone but I have fashioned a Specialized saddle. The original Shimano 105 brake levers have also been replaced at one point for the Shimano Exage. The rest of the Shimano 105 components are still in tact. Some highlights are the noticeable green paint job the Tange 2 Cr-mo tubing and the original Ambrosio black and machined wheel set.
