Description
Vintage 1970s 13" Haitian artist David Auld Hand Carved obeche Wood Decanter BottleThis is a David Auld wooden bottle that was made in Haiti in the 1970s. The goblet sticker says "Guaranteed Wash Proof-Original by David Auld -Handcrafted in Haiti" and it stands 13" with a diameter of 17 at the bottom, tapered to the top. Has a handmade stopper. No cracks, chips or breaks. American musician, David Auld, settled in Haiti in 1970s and began a woodcarving business there.
He carved with obeche wood, artfully carved and finished into this stunning bottle, with a 14 step process. David Auld, created beauty from Haiti’s native wood. The obeche is a fast growing tree, mostly unsuitable for charcoal. David has passed this skill on to his son who is still carving on a track of native wood in Haiti. The grain is natural and very beautiful and feels good to the touch.
